Douglas R. Stollery, Q.C. General Counsel PCL Constructors Inc.
As general counsel of PCL Constructors Inc., Doug provides legal advice in relation to strategic decisions to be made on behalf of the PCL family of companies. Doug has a broad range of experience in construction law and has appeared before all levels of the courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He practiced with the firm of Reynolds Mirth Richards & Farmer LLP for a period of almost thirty years before joining PCL Constructors Inc. in 2006. Doug serves on the PCL Construction Holdings Ltd. board of directors. He also sits on the Corporate Services Executive Committee (CSEC) and Ethical Conduct Compliance Committee (ECCC). Doug has been actively involved in the Canadian Bar Association and has served as President of the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch. For many years he served as a sessional lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta and continues to be a regular speaker at legal conferences. In addition to the focus he awards his career, Doug is actively involved as a volunteer in community organizations and currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Alberta Law Reform Institute, the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, and the Stollery Charitable Foundation. Recent awards include the Suzanne Mah Award for outstanding leadership in promoting human rights principles and ideals in the practice or teaching of law (Alberta Human Rights Commission) and the Eileen Nash Award for providing support to charities and charitable causes to enhance the quality of living for under-privileged people in the Edmonton area (Edmonton Bar Association). Doug graduated with a bachelor of laws from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Law in 1976 and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1977. He earned his a master of laws degree from Harvard Law School in 1980 and is a fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers. |
