Mentoring

 

Each One Teach One

At PCL, we believe that one of the most effective ways of learning and teaching can be achieved through mentoring. Within the mentoring relationship, we pass along our standards, business processes, and most importantly our skills and techniques as builders. Each employee, as both a mentor and protégé, is encouraged to accept responsibility for acquiring knowledge and new skills, and for helping others to learn. Our supervisors, in particular, know that they are often the first choice as a mentor.

Throughout our long history in the construction industry, we have been proud to say, "We bring 'em along." In doing so, we've identified two important functions of our mentors. They are excellent role models and coaches. In whatever job someone performs, we know that others are both watching and listening…learning from us as we role model the behaviors for the job. As coaches, our mentors take a special interest in building the skills of others. We guide each other's work experiences and teach each other the skills that help us to become the best we can be.
