PCL Donates to Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief

EDMONTON, Alberta – The PCL family of companies have pitched in to support Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts by donating $100,000 US to the United Way Hurricane Katrina Response Fund in the United States. PCL has also established the PCL Hurricane Katrina Recovery Funds to provide its employees with a convenient way to donate to the relief efforts through payroll deduction.

“Hurricane Katrina has left a devastating impact on many communities throughout the US Gulf Coast region. Our thoughts and prayers are with the countless people who have been so severely affected by this unprecedented disaster,” says Ross Grieve, president and chief executive officer for the PCL family of companies. “We understood immediately that an extraordinary response was required by our company and I’m sure our employees will feel the same way.”

Grieve went on to emphasize that these disaster relief contributions from the organization and its employees are in addition to their annual United Way campaign and other community contributions. “While it is important that we step up to help with Hurricane Katrina disaster relief, we all know that people in need in other communities still require our support,” says Grieve. “We will be doing all that we can during our regular United Way campaigns to continue the generous level of support our employees have demonstrated in the past.”

Established in 1906, the PCL family of companies is the largest contracting organization in Canada and one of the largest in the United States. The PCL family has major offices in 25 office locations across North America and the Caribbean.
