 EDMONTON, Alberta – The PCL family of companies is pleased to formally mark its 100th anniversary by officially opening its Centennial Learning Centre at the PCL Business Park in Edmonton today.
The Centennial Learning Centre (CLC) is a tribute to past, present and future generations—and is the flagship anniversary project built by Canada’s leading contracting organization in 2006. The building is eligible for silver certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building rating system: a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high performance, sustainable buildings. (For more information on the CLC, please see the Centennial Learning Centre Fact Sheet.) The original PCL company, E. E. Poole General Contractor, was started in 1906 by Ernest Poole in Saskatchewan. The head office moved to Edmonton in 1932 and remains as the group’s North American Headquarters. The Calgary district office was established in 1947. The Poole family sold the company to its employees in 1977 and the PCL Construction name was launched in 1979.
