| EDMONTON, Alberta – The PCL family of companies is pleased to share that PCL Constructors Inc. has received the following recognition: Top 100 Employers in Canada, Financial Post’s Ten Best Companies to Work For and Alberta’s Top 20 Employers. These 2006 rankings are all completed by Mediacorp Canada Inc. and were published in the Saturday, October 22 editions of the National Post and Edmonton Journal newspapers. “We all are very proud across our family of companies,” says Ross Grieve, our president and chief executive officer. “To make it into the top ten nationally on the Financial Post list is a terrific compliment to our organization.” The Top 100 Employers list is compiled annually by Mediacorp Inc. starting with a list of more than 55,000 companies ranging from 30 to 30,000 employees with hiring locations in Canada. The initial list is pared down to 7,500 companies, who are invited to formally participate in a further evaluation process. About 1,200 of these companies agree to participate in this process after agreeing to have their financial records and human resource histories made available to Mediacorp. These 1,200 companies are then graded in eight areas including training, work environment, social atmosphere, financial and family benefits. The results are tabulated and companies subsequently make the list or do not. The Financial Post’s Ten Best Companies to Work For is a list of ten private-sector firms from the Top 100 list that are reaping the economic advantages of treating their employees well. “These companies prove that innovative human resource practices don’t need to come at the expense of making money,” says Tony Meehan, president of Mediacorp. Alberta’s Top 20 Employers is also chosen by Mediacorp. Established in 1906, the PCL family of companies is the largest contracting organization in Canada and one of the largest in the United States.
