PCL in San Diego Awarded Joint Venture Contract Worth $350-Million

SAN DIEGO, California -- The PCL family of companies is pleased to announce the recent award of the $350-million Terminal 2 West Building, Central Utility Plant (CUP) and Airside Expansion, San Diego International Airport to a tri-venture partnership including PCL Construction Services, Inc. (San Diego).

The expansion will be three stories and will add approximately 430,000 square feet, including ten additional aircraft gates, passenger circulation, airline check-in/ticket lobby, security screening, baggage handling, waiting areas, seating areas, concessions, restrooms, office spaces, and other related service/support areas. In addition, the project includes the expansion of the existing Central Utility Plant. Extensive new airside improvements are also contracted, including approximately one million square feet of concrete paving, resulting in space for approximately fifteen airplanes for overnight airplane parking.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification is desired for the terminal expansion, and the project will be seeking Gold certification.

The airside construction work will commence in the fall of 2009, terminal expansion will commence in the summer of 2010, and completion is scheduled for the end 2012.
