PCL to Build and Donate to RCMP Fallen Four Memorial

EDMONTON, Alberta - PCL Edmonton announced January 12 that PCL-Maxam, a Joint Venture will build and make a significant donation toward the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Fallen Four Memorial. The memorial will be created across from the RCMP station in Mayerthorpe, Alberta in honor of four Mounties slain at an area farm March 3, 2005.

The memorial will include bronze statues of Constables Peter Schiemann, Brock Myrol, Leo Johnston and Anthony Gordon; a 550-kilogram (1200-pound), solid-steel sculpture titled Never Forgotten; walkways, benches and landscaping. It will be a place of reflection in memory of the four Mounties.

“Our passion and commitment toward the Fallen Four Memorial was really started when PCL project superintendent Harvey Stepanick and his field crew hung four black ribbons and a Canadian flag on a crane positioned over the route to the RCMP public memorial in Edmonton last March,” said Scott Matheson, construction services manager for PCL Edmonton. “That gesture started a special relationship between PCL and the RCMP regarding this very unfortunate incident. We did not hesitate to become involved in this project to honor the slain Mounties.”

Established in 1906, the PCL family of companies is the largest contracting organization in Canada and one of the largest in the United States. The PCL family has major offices in 25 office locations across North America and the Caribbean.
