PCL’s 5 Most Luxurious Hotels

From theme parks and universities to arenas and museums, PCL has built some iconic buildings over the past 100 years. This series will count down some of the best PCL projects, starting with five of our most impressive luxury hotels (warning: travel inspiration coming your way).

The five-star Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina
has been recognized as one of Forbes Travel Guide’s
 top destinations of 2017.

Turquoise waters and white sand define Atlantis
Resort.

The four-story glass entrance to Sparking Hill can be
seen 12.4 miles away.

The Streamsong Resort won the 2014 Best
Hospitality/Residential Project from ENR Southeast.

This “Castle in the Rockies” underwent a major
redevelopment that was completed by PCL in 2001.

1. FOUR SEASONS RESORT OAHU AT KO OLINA – A PIECE OF PARADISE

Chic and light-filled, with vast ocean views, this luxury five-star Hawaiian beach resort is a sanctuary on Oahu, the most dynamic Hawaiian island. Guests splash into sparkling pools and lagoons, and numerous water sports take place right off the resort’s own beach. Surrounded by a pristine nature preserve, Lanikihonua (“where heaven meets the earth”), and the stunning Ko Olina Lagoons, the Four Seasons has been recognized as one of Forbes Travel Guide’s top destinations of 2017.

The Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina project saw the PCL team completely transform the former four-star JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina Resort & Spa into this five-star resort and the island’s first Four Seasons. PCL constructed and completely remodeled 371 guestrooms and suites, four restaurants, a lounge, a wedding chapel, and an extensive pool area with an infinity-edge adult pool that has stunning views of Kohola Lagoon

2. Atlantis Hotel Casino Resort – An Icon of the Bahamas

Turquoise waters, white sand, and bright sun define this island retreat. Located on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas, The Cove at Atlantis is the third phase of the ultra-luxurious Atlantis Hotel Casino Resort that PCL constructed to bring visionary design together with the bluest ocean and mother-of-pearl hued sand.

PCL added to the impressive offerings of the surrounding resort with a new, themed, 600-room hotel, a luxury condominium/hotel tower, and a dolphin-experience lagoon. The addition of an outdoor waterpark—complete with a mile-long river ride, kids park, and 65-foot-high temple slide makes this lush getaway the perfect resort for any traveler.

3.  Sparkling Hill Resort – The Swarovski Hotel

This unique 250,000-square-foot spa resort is cut into the granite top of Royce Mountain, overlooking Lake Okanagan in British Columbia. It is one of the premier destination luxury spa resorts in the world, featuring airy, open-concept, stirring mountain views, and lake-front vistas.

The owner, Gernot Langes-Swarovski, creator of renowned crystal artwork and jewelry line Swarovski, dreamt of bringing the European concept of whole-body wellness to Canada. Crystal plays a big role in the hotel’s design, with more than 3.5 million crystals dancing within the walls of the resort.

The highlight of the resort for the PCL team is the four-story glass artwork that marks the entrance. It can be seen from 12.4 miles away, closely resembling the crystals that are within this luxurious getaway.

4. Streamsong Resort – A Golfer’s Haven

Golfers rejoice! Florida’s Streamsong Resort is a luxury golf, spa, and nature-based retreat. Environmentally conscious and committed to economic sustainability, this golf escape is an extraordinary retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation. Streamsong is home to two of the top 20 golf courses in the country and is the result of the Mosaic Company’s (one of Florida’s largest landowners) vision to showcase the 16,000 acres of previously mined land.

The PCL team worked with the high-profile owners to construct a three-story golf clubhouse; six-story, 305,000-square-foot lodge; 228 luxury guest rooms; a conference center; a full-service spa; a lakeside infinity pool; fine- and casual-dining restaurants; a rooftop bar; and outdoor amenities that include guided bass fishing, sporting clays, tennis courts, and hiking and birding trails.

5. FAIRMONT BANFF SPRINGS – A CASTLE IN THE ROCKIES

For 130 years, the world-famous Fairmont Banff Springs hotel has stood as a landmark in the picturesque alpine town of Banff, Alberta, nestled at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With an award-winning European-style spa, a championship golf course, grand entrances, and authentic dining, the Banff Springs resort is the ultimate mountain retreat.

PCL conducted major redevelopments on this “Castle in the Rockies”, revitalizing and expanding it to what we know today as a historic centerpiece in Banff National Park. The PCL team completely redeveloped both the interior and exterior, incorporating unique, luxurious finishing touches throughout.
