The Hawaiian Airlines Ticket Lobby project consisted of the installation of six state-of-the-art check-in "islands", each containing eight kiosks. An additional reconfiguration of the baggage system allowed for greater efficiency in the Honolulu International Airport. The islands feature unique iridescent light shelves and panels shaped like canoe sails.
Nordic PCL worked at night and around special events in order to mitigate disturbances, and they resequenced the work to best accommodate the flow of traffic. This helped avoid bottlenecks in the lobby and preserved sight lines for security. In addition, the sequencing maximized efficiency in the construction, keeping the project on schedule.
Nordic PCL also had to coordinate with multiple agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, TSA, and various internal departments within Hawaiian Airlines. To assist, the project team created an efficient, color-coded visual plan that everyone could easily understand.
