Just three miles from the deep water of the Gulf of Mexico, Freeport is one of the most accessible ports on the Gulf Coast. Its location in southeast Texas offers efficient transportation via highway, railroad, or intercoastal waterway.

The 100-year-old railline swing bridge that crossed Freeport’s Old Brazos River, however, was in very bad shape and required continual maintenance by its operator, the Union Pacific Railroad Company.

Fancy Footwork

Watch how PCL placed the Table Mesa Pedestrian Bridge above Highway 36 in Boulder, Colorado. The PCL project team worked through the night to minimize disruption to commuter traffic between Boulder and Table Mesa Road. After only nine hours, the bridge was successfully set in place and the highway reopened by 6 a.m.

Bridging America’s Infrastructure Gap

The Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge, known locally as the Q-Bridge because it spans the Quinnipiac River, is central to the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor in Connecticut. The 7.5-mile stretch of highway was originally designed and constructed in the late 1950s to carry 40,000 vehicles daily. PCL was hired by the Connecticut Department of Transportation to ensure the new ten-lane twin Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge will provide relief to traffic.
