“Ian has been with PCL for over a decade, and has brought with him more than
thirty years of experience in the industry,” said Paul Douglas, PCL president and CEO. “His leadership will continue to move PCL forward by providing safe, technically advanced solutions to the most complex industrial construction projects in North America.”
Johnston now oversees all of PCL’s heavy industrial operations company-wide. He has served in various other senior roles in PCL’s Heavy Industrial division since joining the company in 2002. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1978 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
PCL’s Heavy Industrial division is coming off of its strongest year ever in total billings with a record $1.8 billion in fiscal 2012. The outlook for the Heavy Industrial division is positive as the division is forecasting another record year in billings in Western Canada, and is building on a record year of billings for PCL’s Bakersfield operation and increased orders in the company’s Atlanta and Houston operations.
“We all owe a large debt of gratitude to Peter Stalenhoef for his leadership of our Heavy Industrial division over the last decade and more,” said Johnston. “With the strong team we have in place in Heavy Industrial, we are firmly committed to carrying this success forward.”
PCL’s industrial companies respond to the unique industrial construction needs of clients in the oil and gas, mining, power and cogeneration, petrochemical, and pulp and paper industries.
In addition to offering construction management services, PCL offers a full range of industrial general contracting services, specializing in piping, mechanical, civil, and electrical construction, as well as fabrication and plant shutdowns/turnarounds.
