Denver – Buildings Construction

DENVER, CO (November 17, 2014) – PCL Construction’s Mile High United Way Morgridge Center for Community Change project has been awarded the 2014 Mayor’s Design Award.

“We have a strong relationship with Mile High United Way, and it was truly an honor to be a part of this new facility that is now recognized by Mayor Hancock,” said Shaun Yancey, PCL president and COO of US Operations.
Located in the historic Curtis Park neighborhood, the Mile High United Way Morgridge Center for Community Change was built with the goal of improving the lives of children, individuals, and families. Made possible by a partnership with Davis Partnership Architects, the design-build project consists of three levels of above-grade and one level of below-grade parking, 6,000 square feet of leasable tenant space, and 2,000 square feet of available retail space on the first floor. The Morgridge Center also provides more than 50,000 square feet of office and conference-room space for Mile High United Way operations. As part of PCL’s commitment to sustainability, those responsible for the project strive towards Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification for the center.

The Mayor’s Design Awards began in 2005 to highlight projects throughout Denver that are premier examples of architecture, exterior design, and community cohesion. There are seven distinct award categories companies can be placed in. This year, the Mile High United Way Headquarters won the award in the Distinctive Denver category. The award was presented by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, at The Studio Loft at the Denver Performing Arts Complex on November 13.
