Regina, SK (June 16, 2015) – To mark the one year anniversary since shovels broke ground on Mosaic Stadium, PCL Construction Management Inc. along with the City of Regina provided the latest details on construction. The stadium is now approximately 44 percent complete as it approaches the halfway point.
“We are right where we wanted to be a year since ground breaking. We continue to receive great feedback from all our sidewalk superintendents and appreciate their enthusiasm for the project,” said Sean Hamelin, District Manager, PCL Construction Management Inc.
To date, more than 3,300 tonnes of reinforcing steel has been put in place, 25,500 m3 of concrete has been poured, and 250,000 m3 of material excavated. Approximately 290 tradespeople are working on the stadium each day, with a total of 410,000 hours.
“This is a tremendous source of pride for our community and we are very pleased with the progress the PCL construction team has made over the last year,” said Mayor Michael Fougere. “There is a lot of activity in each area of the site and it has been incredible to witness how the stadium has taken shape. In another year’s time, we will be close to having a complete stadium.”
The development of the west side of the stadium will begin to mirror what has taken place on the east side over the summer months, and a dramatic change in the north end of the stadium will occur over the next number of weeks, as the Sask Sport and Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club administration area begins. Also released today, the first image of inside the General Admission Lounge. The feature lounge will re-use the old bleachers from the existing stadium in its design.
Later this year the structural steel work for the spectator roof will begin in the southeast corner of the multi-purpose facility. Substantial completion for Mosaic Stadium is scheduled for August 2016. The first Saskatchewan Roughriders football game will be played there in June 2017.
