Seattle, Washington – The PCL family of companies is pleased to announce the recent award of the $306-million SR 520 Eastside Transit & HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) project to a joint venture partnership between PCL Construction Services, Inc. (40%) in Seattle and Granite Construction (60%).
This design-build project entails the widening of 2.5 miles of SR 520, east of the floating bridge. Scope of work includes expanding the HOV lanes, improving transit stops, constructing direct access interchanges for transit and HOV, and building three large, landscaped freeway bridge structures, called lids. These lids will provide sustainable open green spaces that reconnect neighborhoods, reduce noise, and preserve views. The project also includes a new regional bicycle/pedestrian path, noise walls, and fish passage improvements.
Construction will begin in April 2011 and is scheduled for completion in August 2014.
