Regina – Buildings & Civil Construction

Regina, SK (October 24, 2014) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce its role in building the Swift Current Long-Term Care Centre, a new 225-bed long-term care centre that will serve southwestern Saskatchewan.

As part of the Plenary Health consortium, PCL will be the design-builder along with two other partners: Johnson Controls Canada Limited Partnership (service provider) and Stantec Architecture Ltd. (designer). The centre will be completed as a private-public partnership (P3) under a 30-year, design-build-finance-maintain contract.
“PCL is excited to be part of this P3 project and to show how we are leaders when it comes to P3 construction,” said Sean Hamelin, PCL Regina district manager. “We are proud to be partnering with the Plenary Health Group, Stantec, and Johnson Controls to provide a much-needed facility for the Swift Current and area community.”
The facility is designed around groups of small houses that encourage social activity and a warm living environment. Staff, user groups, and residents were consulted during the design process.
“We are excited to be breaking ground on this important project with the Cypress Health Region and our new partners, Plenary Health,” said Premier Brad Wall.  “We are moving forward, on schedule, with our first public-private partnership project. As a result of using a P3, we are saving taxpayers more than $16 million, which is a little over 13 percent, and providing additional value and innovation as well as creating jobs and economic prosperity in the local economy.”
When complete in the Spring of 2016, this facility will replace three existing health-care facilities: Swift Current Care Centre, Prairie Pioneers Lodge, and Palliser Regional Care Centre.
