Toronto – Buildings & Civil Construction

Toronto, ON (July 10, 2015) – On July 10, 2015, PCL’s president of Eastern Canada, Jim Dougan, proudly carried the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games torch through the streets of Toronto before making the final stop of its 41-day journey at the TO2015 Opening Ceremony.
“At PCL, we are more than builders. We are construction partners who are passionate about our community,” says Dougan. “Never have I been more proud to work for this company. Just as this flame was lit in Mexico, rooted in history and tradition, I am honoured to carry the torch on behalf of the thousands of PCLers across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Australia who share this commitment to community and civic pride, and we look forward to furthering this legacy for future generations.”
Providing exceptional general contractor services is PCL’s business; giving back is PCL’s passion. To help build a social legacy and pride that will last beyond the summer of 2015, PCL has partnered with the Toronto Foundation and the TO2015 Organizing Committee as an official Friend of the Games. Through this unique sponsorship opportunity, PCL has donated 2,500 general admission tickets through charitable organizations that work primarily in underserved communities throughout the province of Ontario, meaning that 1,250 at-risk youth will be able to attend a TO2015 event with a chaperone.
A catalyst for infrastructure investment in Ontario, TO2015 is the largest multi-sport event ever held in Canada, with 51 sports being played at venues across 15 municipalities, spanning a vast 5,300 square kilometers.
As a construction company known for building cultural landmarks across North America, PCL is the proud builder of several iconic sports facilities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) that will be showcased during the Games, including the largest purpose-built facility constructed for TO2015, the award winning CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House (Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre). Other sports facilities include: Exhibition Stadium (BMO Field); Exhibition Centre (Direct Energy Centre); Mississauga Sports Centre (Hershey Centre); the Canadian Tennis Centre (Rexall Centre); and Angus Glen Golf Club.
