Los Angeles, CA (January 27, 2016) – PCL Construction has been awarded the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Center for Health Sciences (CHS) Seismic Correction and Fire Safety and the CHS – School of Medicine West Seismic Renovation projects.
The scope of work includes seismic corrections, nonstructural upgrades, and additional work such as abatement of hazardous materials. Seismic and fire safety correction work comprises selective structural strengthening, including Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FPR) wrapping of structural elements, cast-in-place concrete, and exterior and interior shotcrete shear walls. Fire life-safety correction work includes fire suppression and fire alarm upgrades.
The buildings will remain occupied and operational during construction. Preconstruction will begin in January 2016 and construction in May 2016. The project has a completion date of June 2018.
