Edmonton, Alberta (June 18, 2015) – PCL Construction Management Inc. has begun construction work on the Singhmar Centre for Learning, NorQuest College’s downtown expansion. The centre is located on Capital Boulevard, next to NorQuest’s current downtown Edmonton campus.
“PCL is proud to be part of another project that will contribute to the re-vitalization of Edmonton’s downtown core,” said Rob Otway, vice president and district manager, Edmonton Buildings. “The Singhmar Centre for Learning represents a new chapter for NorQuest College, and we are pleased to be able to help them advance and create new opportunites for Alberta students.”
The four-story expansion to the downtown campus will feature classrooms, teaching labs, a teaching child-care facility, library, food services, and an Aboriginal ceremonial room. A large central atrium, full of natural light, will provide a gathering space for student activities. Students and faculty will also enjoy the addition of one level of parking with room for both vehicles and bicycles.
The LEED® Silver certified expansion will be connected to the college’s existing building via pedway and will allow NorQuest to consolidate all of its Edmonton-area programming in one place. You can learn more about this exciting project online.
Construction is currently underway and is scheduled for completion in summer 2017.
