Denver, CO (March 3, 2015) The PCL family of companies is celebrating Women in Construction Week (March 1-7) by announcing a new partnership with Girls Inc., Eureka! ®, aimed at introducing the field of construction management to young girls.
Eureka!, a yearly summer program and pilot endeavor offered through Girls Inc., focuses on mentoring young girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education (STEM), and highlights PCL’s commitment to diversity in the workforce.
“We at PCL think it’s important to encourage all of Denver’s youth to explore their interests,” said Shaun Yancey, PCL’s president and COO of US Operations. “By partnering with Girls, Inc., we are opening doors to the construction management field for young women who might not have considered it as a career option.”
Girls Build It is the first session of Eureka!, kicking off in June 2015, and will spotlight building design and construction. PCL will offer off-site field trips for camp goers and provide subject matter experts to teach some of the camp’s curriculum. There will also be opportunities for girls to shadow various PCL employees.
