Seattle – Buildings Construction

Seattle, WA. (June 4, 2015) – PCL Construction Services, Inc. in Seattle has completed Cielo a 31-story luxury residential tower in Seattle’s historic First Hill neighborhood on Seneca Street.
“Laconia has worked with many contractors over the years, but none of them have matched PCL for technical expertise, ethical interactions, and just downright fun to work with,” said Paul Menzies, CEO of Laconia Development LLC. “We are very much looking forward to our next project with the PCL team.”
Designed by Kwan Henmi Architecture, the 469,000-square foot concrete tower consists of 335 apartment units and offers residents two levels of amenities including a fitness room, wine bar, gourmet kitchen, yoga studio, game room, chill room, and an expansive outdoor rooftop terrace. Residents will also benefit from five levels of below-grade parking. In addition, urban dwellers in Cielo can enjoy the oversized plaza on the first floor which connects to the Freeway Park system.
“It’s been an exciting two years watching Cielo’s construction,” said Tom Doig, PCL vice president and district manager. “Building in downtown Seattle is a unique experience that keeps our teams on their toes. We’re proud of the project, our PCL team, and the subcontractors who contributed to this project’s successful completion.”
With energy efficiency and conservation designed throughout the structure, the project has targeted a LEED Silver certification with the US Green Building Council. Cielo Tower is the first residential tower in Seattle to pass a newly enacted energy code, which regulates the energy efficiency of the building. Although buildings are not required to pass the test, only to submit to the test, the passing grade for Cielo Tower demonstrates the upmost care in ensuring energy efficiency.
