“Donating to food
banks during the holiday season is just one of the community giving initiatives
that we do at PCL Construction, but one that we’re particularly proud of
because of the tremendous impact it has on local communities,” said Shaun
Yancey, President and COO of PCL’s US Operations.
According to Feeding America, 13 percent of households experienced food
insecurity in 2015, and households with children reported food insecurity at a
17 percent higher rate than those without.
The US Food Bank Initiative was established by PCL Construction as a way to try to ensure the holidays are happy for everone. This year, 10 of PCL's offices each donated $5,000 to local food banks of their choice. The agencies that will benefit from this donation are located in Bakersfield, Denver, Hawaii, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis–St. Paul, Phoenix, Orlando, Raleigh, and Seattle.
