Denver, CO (March 2, 2015) – The PCL family of companies announced a $3.4 million donation to United Way agencies across the United States in 2014.

“PCL is honored to support United Way agencies across the United States,” said Shaun Yancey, PCL president and COO of US operations. “We understand the extraordinary impact United Way has on the people and communities it serves, and we are happy to continue to support their efforts.”
Thirteen PCL districts across the United States held campaigns to support their local United Way agencies. Donation efforts included a kickoff breakfast with the Seattle Seahawks, PCL, and United Way; a chili cook-off; hallway golf tournaments; a United Way golf tournament hosted by PCL; a week-long silent auction; root beer float sale; PCL bowl-a-thon; monetary donations; and various other fundraising events.
“PCL employees see the impact of United Way’s work and they feel honored to contribute, whether by donating, volunteering, or just showing support for the cause,” said Fil Rea, estimator for PCL Denver. “We always have a lot of fun with our United Way campaign events, which only adds to their success.”
PCL’s fundraising initiatives help the nation’s United Way chapters to
  • provide 430,356 nights of shelter to the homeless;
  • train 20,078 parents and caregivers to be their child’s first teacher;
  • mentor 21,718 youth and tutor 10,087 additional youth;
  • provide 1,193,849 meals to local residents in need;
  • serve more than 50,000 children through school readiness programs.
“Mile High United Way is incredibly grateful and proud of the partnership we have with PCL Construction,” said Christine Benero, President and CEO of Mile High United Way. “They are setting the bar for corporate social responsibility in our city and we simply could not change lives and transform communities without their leadership. PCL Construction doesn't only build buildings, they build hope.”
Through a partnership that began in 1969, PCL employees and their local United Way agencies continue to make positive changes to their communities.
