In addition to sponsorship, PCL employees are invited to
participate in the MS Bike tour. The team of PCLers join the tour in a
demonstration of dedication, perseverance, and community. Their efforts help
raise funds for research, treatment, and prevention of the disease, and support
for the estimated 1 in 340 Canadians living with it.
“Commitment to social responsibility is a guiding principle
for PCL,” said Dave Filipchuk, president and CEO of PCL. “We are proud to be
involved with this important organization to support healthy communities and
join the fight to end multiple sclerosis.”
PCL has an ongoing partnership with the MS Society of
Canada. In 2017, PCL donated $1.25 million towards a grant to accelerate
groundbreaking research on the progression of the disease – and hopefully one
day find a cure.
It all gets started tomorrow, June 9th, in
Alberta. The first MS Bike ride of the year is the largest and longest running
Johnson MS Bike ride, from Leduc to Camrose. Learn more about MS Bike and how
you can take part.
multiple sclerosis (MS) and the MS Society of Canada
has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis in the world. MS is a chronic, often
disabling disease of the central nervous system comprising the brain, spinal
cord and optic nerve. It is one of the most common neurological diseases
affecting young adults in Canada. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the
ages of 15 and 40, and the unpredictable effects of MS last for the rest of
their lives. The MS Society provides services to people with MS and their
families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. Please
