Denver, CO (December 22, 2015) – PCL Construction, for the eighth consecutive year, has donated more than $1 million to the Mile High United Way through an annual United Way campaign, enabling the nonprofit to serve thousands of community members in the Denver Metro area.

“PCL employees give their time and contributions to Mile High United Way and truly make a difference in our community. They are helping us give thousands of children, families and individuals in our community the opportunity to thrive; and are truly a company who set high expectations for themselves and help bridge the gap in our community for those who need it most,” says Christine Benero, president and CEO of Mile High United Way.

Only 185 PCL donors generously gave $562,049.58. An additional $11,870 was generated through events that included a Topgolf tournament, wine cork pull, company-wide pot luck, a 50/50 raffle, and a root beer float sale. The campaign ran for two weeks and at the end was matched dollar for dollar by PCL making the overall donation by the company $1,135,969 million.

“Every year employees look forward to helping the community through the Mile High United Way campaign,” said Shaun Yancey, president and COO of PCL’s US Operations. “To donate $8 million to this charity, in as many years, is a testament to the caliber of people PCL employs and helps us keep good on our mission of giving back to the communities in which we live and work.”

PCL is one of only four companies in Metro Denver investing more than $1 million in the programs and services of Mile High United Way and is just one of seven companies to be a Champion of Hope Emeritus – the highest award bestowed to a United Way corporate partner. The 2015 campaign resulted in 63 leadership level, $1,000 annual contribution donors, and 13 Tocqueville, $10,000 annual contribution donors from PCL alone.

Donations made help Mile High United Way develop long-term solutions that ensure children are learning and reading at grade-level; young people graduate from high school ready for college or the workforce; and families and individuals have their basic needs met and are afforded every opportunity to move toward economic success. Specifically, PCL’s support allows children and families access quality childcare; provides one-on-one tutoring to improve literacy skills; enables youth to participate in afterschool and summer programming, and helps individuals and families access services such as financial planning, workforce training, and veteran support services.
