“We are proud to be selected for these two awards,” said Brad Nelson, PCL president and chief operating officer. “The awards really symbolize what PCL is all about, the entrepreneurial spirit that keeps us growing, and the quality people who go the extra mile to serve our clients and the communities in which they live.”
Paul Douglas received the International Business Award as a result of his appointment the High Level Panel on Infrastructure Development by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The panel was struck following the 2010 G20 Summit in Seoul, to recommend steps to increase investment toward achievement of the G20’s Millennium Development Goals to eradicate poverty and hunger, reduce child mortality rates, and create a global partnership for development. Factors that also contributed to the win were PCL’s international recruitment strategy and PCL’s entry into the Australian construction market, to build the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
The CCA chose Dwight Brown as the Person of the Year for his career as a successful leader, and a builder who has garnered the respect of his colleagues, competitors, and clients. Throughout his career, his dedication to excellence remained constant, whether serving clients, participating in industry associations, or giving time to community organizations. Brown’s commitment to leave a legacy for the leaders of tomorrow was also highlighted through his efforts in raising funds for, and chairing, the Algonquin College for Construction Excellence Foundation.
The conference was held in Savannah, Georgia, March 11 to 16.
