Saskatoon – Buildings & Civil Construction

Regina, SK (January 30, 2015) – PCL Construction is pleased to provide an update on the current construction schedule of Mosaic Stadium. This is the first phase of the Regina Revitalization Initiative, and the stadium is now approximately 22 percent complete.

Sean Hamelin, PCL Regina district manager, said, “I’m pleased to report we are on schedule and making great progress, in part thanks to the recent cooperative weather. In February, we will begin the foundation in the lower bowl. This enables us to begin the work for all the seating that will be below grade, which is more than half the seats in the stadium.”
So far, almost 12,000 cubic metres of concrete has been placed, along with 1,200 tonnes of reinforcing steel. Construction of the west-side mezzanine slab has started, with columns and exterior walls also in progress. Currently, 190 tradespeople are working on the site, with almost 190,000 hours worked to date. There have been no recordable incidents and zero lost time incidents on-site.
“I am impressed and thankful that PCL is able to keep making so much progress during our winter months,” said Regina mayor Michael Fougere. “Their efforts are indicative of the enthusiasm our community has for this project, and Reginans are excited to see progression at the site.”
Substantial completion for Mosaic Stadium is scheduled for August 2016. The first Saskatchewan Roughriders football game played there will be in June 2017.
