Edmonton, Alberta (May 26, 2015) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce it has been awarded the 2015 Volunteerism and Community Involvement Award and the Best Overall Workplace in the more than 750 employees category by Alberta Venture Magazine. The awards were presented at the Alberta’s Best Workplaces Conference & Awards, held May 25th at Calgary’s TELUS Convention Centre.

The community involvement award is in recognition of PCL’s efforts in support of local communities, in particular its involvement with the United Way. PCL’s Alberta districts together raised more than three million dollars for the organization in 2014 and developed engaging and inspiring workplace campaigns.
“Giving back is a big part of who we are at PCL,” said Mike Olsson, vice president, Human Resources and Professional Development, “and it’s our hope and belief that we are making a difference. This recognition confirms that we continue to have a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work.”
The best overall workplace award recognizes PCL as one of Alberta’s top employers. PCL’s employee-owned structure, wellness initiatives and training programs all contribute to creating a supportive work environment that has been consistently celebrated as one of the best in the province.
Companies are judged by a selection panel of Alberta Venture editors, members of the Human Resources Institute of Alberta, and Human Resources executives.
Alberta’s Best Workplaces Awards is open to companies that have operations in Alberta and employ more than five people. PCL has previously taken home awards in both the Health and Safety, and the Best Workplace for Perks and Incentives categories.
