EDMONTON, Alberta -- The PCL family of companies is pleased to announce that Gord Maron, chief financial officer from 2001 to 2011, has been named Canada’s CFO of the Year™. The program is sponsored by Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), PwC, and Robert Half.
2011 CFO of the Year Gordon Maron

Gord is the first-ever award winner from a private company. He was selected by an independent committee, comprising some of Canada’s most prominent business leaders. The judging panel evaluated the nominees based on vision and leadership, corporate reporting and performance, social responsibility, innovation, and business complexity.

Award candidates were nominated in all business sectors by CEOs, members of boards of directors, financial analysts and other senior executives. Special attention was paid to achievements of the past five years, during which time Gord, as CFO, implemented the financial strategy and infrastructure required to support rapid growth at our organization, in particular during the period of 2006 to 2009, when billings at PCL rose from $4.7 billion to $6.3 billion.
“While I humbly accept the honor, I credit the achievement to my co-workers and colleagues at PCL,” says Gord. “I have been very fortunate to have spent my entire career with an organization of individuals who work so hard to live up to our vision of being a construction leader, and which is committed to continual learning.”
A 40-year PCL veteran, Gord was appointed to the PCL Board of Directors in 1995 and promoted to chief financial officer in 2001. He recently transitioned to the role of executive vice president and will work directly with PCL’s chief executive officer Paul Douglas on capital planning, enterprise risk management, and succession planning, all vital PCL initiatives.
