Airport Security Improvement Program-In-Line Baggage Screening System-Phase C

Project Overview

This project consisted of the relocation and installation of 14 explosive-detection systems and explosive trace devices Also included were approximately 7,000 linear feet of baggage conveyors, controls, security components, and supporting equipment, and the construction and the coordination of multiple trades in multiple phases.

The many challenges presented by this project were the result of executing a large-scale industrial project in the center of an operating international airport. Views and access passages for passengers, tenants, and airport employees had to be constantly coordinated to ensure operations and guest experiences were not adversely affected. Daily airport baggage operations were maintained through a number of critical equipment and system tie-ins. As a result of PCL’s team-oriented approach, the project was completed on time and on budget.
