Algonquin College Student Commons Building

Project Overview

This design-build project consisted of the new construction of a 127,000-square-foot college student-commons facility. The facility includes a 700-seat auditorium, three levels of student services, and a 15,000-square-foot renovation to an existing retail area. The new building houses a wide variety of student supports, including counseling and employment services, the Centre for Students with Disabilities, the Mamidosewin Aboriginal Student Centre, and offices for the students’ association. It features a food court, computer store, and ample space in a soaring atrium for students to meet and study. The new Student Commons has achieved LEED Gold certification.
