Project Overview

This project includes the remodel of the old Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) building in downtown Orlando. Located in the heart of the city, the Aloft Orlando Downtown consists of 119 spacious, loft-like rooms; intuitive and accessible technology; and a buzzing, social atmosphere. The scope of this 89,000-square-foot, complete eight-story building renovation also includes several site improvements such as a new pool, deck area, and roadway.

PCL managed 12 major revisions, all while turning over a portion of the building a month early under a PCL-recommended phased occupancy plan. PCL also worked closely with the City of Orlando to develop a life-safety plan that allowed one room in the hotel to be designated as a training room for owner employees. This allowed the owner to train staff on-site, saving the owner the costs of renting outside facilities and setting up multiple servers offsite. Additionally, a mockup was provided on-site to allow for any last-minute changes.
