PCL is the general contractor for the Foreman Cement Modernization project, which called for a new state-of-the-art, 4,650-standard-tons-per-days cement plant. PCL was responsible for the entire scope of work, from raw material received through cement storage and dispatch. Work performed by the PCL team included, among other things, 537,000 cubic yards of cut and fill; 150,000 linear feet of underground electrical and instrument cable; and 13,000 tons of structural steel. At project completion, the PCL team had not only provided the client with a state-of-the-art cement manufacturing facility, but had also built what is now the second-tallest structure in Arkansas: the plant’s preheat tower.
The PCL project team worked 5,738,048 hours without a lost-time incident during the construction of this project. Such a dedicated effort to safety prompted the client to say that “due to the effectiveness of the safety program, PCL has lowered the insurance costs by 80% over expectations.”
