This five-story office building serves as AstraZeneca’s Canadian headquarters for manufacturing, clinical research, sales, marketing, and distribution. The project includes a full-height atrium, and is linked to an existing single-story building by a glazed visitor center. The visitor center is a wedge-shaped galleria with exposed stone floors and a full-length skylight, and it is enclosed with a combination of glazed and wood-paneled walls. The office building is also linked to the existing manufacturing facility by a curved, glazed circulation link.
PCL and subcontractor partners completed extensive value engineering to keep this project within the client’s budget, which saved approximately $4.5 million. In order to minimize disruption to the client’s operational facility, the project team worked in close communication with the client and provided five days' notice prior to performing any work that may have affected their daily operations.
