Project Overview

This project consists of a five-level, cast-in-place parking structure of over 236,000 square feet, and includes two structural steel bridges to an adjacent parkade (also constructed by PCL). The new parkade will connect with the existing Hudson's Bay Canada store structure at Levels 1 and 3. The 475-stall parkade will contain a dry sprinkler system, owing to the proximity to the adjacent building, and will contain a new Hudson’s Bay loading dock. The new parking garage will feature interior ramps and a five-level passenger elevator; it will be clad in Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) and will feature curtain-wall glazing and perforated aluminum panels.

To avoid traffic congestion and ensure the safety of pedestrians while the parking structure undergoes demolition and reconstruction, PCL obtained permission from the municipal bus transit authority to use the existing bus lanes for construction vehicle access. Doing so minimizes vehicular congestion on existing residential access roads leading into the mall. The use of the existing bus lanes allows PCL to significantly reduce the risk of traffic-related safety incidents by keeping all construction vehicles from circulating through the adjoining neighborhoods.
