The Bank of Montreal Brentwood project was a complete renovation of an existing branch, constructed under the terms of the Bank of Montreal national agreement. One of the larger branches in Calgary, this 6,700-square-foot space upgrade incorporated twenty-one new offices, a new teller line, and a new greeter station. The project included all new floor, wall, and ceiling finishes, and a major upgrade to the mechanical and electrical systems. In order to meet the aggressive 14-week schedule, coordination with the trades and proper planning were crucial. One of the major challenges was working in a fully operational branch. Not only was the phasing and scheduling critical, it was also very important to maintain rapport with the branch staff, who had to continue their business operations in a construction zone.
The project was a great success. PCL met all deadlines through proper planning and execution, and the team worked with trades to meet and exceed schedule expectations. The owner and branch staff are excited about the finished product and were positive throughout construction.
