Cassie Campbell Community Centre

Project Overview

This state-of-the-art multiuse community center is a jewel in the city of Brampton. The 165,000-square-foot building holds Brampton’s first community gymnasium and first community-based police station. The facility also features an indoor running track and fitness center, two ice rinks with a combined 850-seat spectator viewing area, a six-lane swimming pool, a leisure pool, and several community meeting rooms. Part of the project scope was an extensive outdoor program, with tennis courts, basketball courts, splash pads, a skate park, and three outdoor soccer fields — two of which can be converted to cricket pitches.

Significant innovations were applied to this project. For example, PCL adopted a top-down construction strategy, completing the roof structure early to protect the inside during periods of extreme weather. Additionally, the team maintained contact with neighboring schools to ensure students and other members of the public did not enter the construction area.
