This 25-acre park for the Dr. P. Phillips community has the most features of any park in Orange County, Florida. The scope of work included site work, underground utilities, roads and parking lots, landscaping, concrete, sports fields, wet and dry playgrounds and site furnishings, and a restroom/office and maintenance building.
The original design called for the placement of a large amount of gravel to aid in the site’s drainage process. When the PCL project team found that site drainage was already adequate, they saved the client $10,000 on the budget. Further, PCL also found the home of one of Florida’s endangered species, the gopher tortoise, on the project site. Keeping the tortoises safe was a priority for both the client and the project team, which led to the team’s fencing off the area throughout construction. Despite all challenges, PCL was proud to deliver a quality project to the client, both on time and on budget.
