This Southeast Terminal Expansion project added approximately 300,000 square feet of arrivals, departures, and mezzanine space to the Edmonton International Airport. Substantial mechanical and electrical upgrades, and the addition of equipment to the existing central utilities plant, were all part of PCL’s scope.
Construction of this expansion created logistical challenges related to the flow of vehicular traffic and operational requirements. PCL provided an alternate construction sequence for the new departures roadway, which proved to be a benefit both to PCL’s construction schedule and the client’s operational requirements. The project team worked with the client and its transportation group to develop a sequencing plan that provided consistent and manageable traffic flow for all public and airport vehicles. PCL met all the requirements set forth by the client and completed the project on schedule.
