The Eureka Weather Station, located in Eureka at the 80th Parallel, is PCL's most northern project. This new 3,121-square-foot garage addition to an existing power house, along with minor renovations to the power house itself, affords the weather station additional maintenance space for vehicles and equipment.
The harsh northern climate and remote location required significant logistics support and execution planning. PCL oversaw all crating and shipping, ensuring products could withstand at least one year of storage in Eureka prior to the start of construction. All materials were shipped to Nanasivik for furtherance to Eureka via Coast Guard Ice Cutters. Despite logistical challenges, this project was executed on time and on budget.
