Project Overview

This design-build project includes an eight-story parking garage for the new Amway Center in downtown Orlando. The garage accommodates 1,876 cars and includes a receptor for an elevated pedestrian walkway and speed ramps that allow the entire structure to be emptied within 30 minutes of an event. The façade is designed to match the Amway Center and provides the opportunity to exhibit artwork on the exterior of the garage.

PCL’s design-build team was tasked with designing and building a LEED-certified parking garage, and was challenged to create innovative ways to minimize the project’s impact on the environment. This included, but was not limited to, extra recycling of construction debris, engineered systems to prevent pollution, preferred parking for environmental friendly vehicles, and bicycle parking. As a result of upfront planning, the project team surpassed the baseline LEED level to achieve Gold certification.
