Glenmore / 37 Street SW Interchange Phase 1 Detour

Project Overview

The Glenmore & 37th Street SW Interchange – Phase 1 Detour is designed to relieve traffic congestion at a busy intersection by providing free-flow traffic on Calgary's Glenmore Trail. In order to achieve this, PCL constructed a bridge across Glenmore Trail, along with a 37th Street connector ramp to link northbound and southbound routes. The Phase 1 Detour is a temporary arrangement that will accommodate the final ring road.

When this project was still accepting proposals, its incomplete design allowed PCL the opportunity to work with designers and secure the project. Construction began during the annual spring thaw, with the understanding that Glenmore Trail would open to free-flow traffic within five short months. The PCL team not only met that date; they beat it by three weeks.
