The Health Sciences E Wing project is a 279,000-square-foot expansion of the Health Science Library at the University of Saskatchewan. The E Wing complex is an essential learning resource that includes teaching and research space, offices, a complete library with extensive online resources, and lecture theatres. Including an atrium and parkade, this asset in education is focused on health education and practice distinguishing the 21st century of health care.
The completion date of the project was imperative for the client. PCL used extra resources and foresight to meet the goal, including the early installation of two sump pumps into a 70,000-square-foot excavation. This allowed the tower portion of the project to be built despite the record rainfall received in Saskatoon in 2010. Achieving this major milestone was the critical point that allowed for smooth sailing to the project completion date.
Health Sciences E Wing was built to LEED standards and is currently going through the process of obtaining Gold certification.
