Project Overview

This 835-square-foot, LEED Gold facility is located on a three-acre site. It features a green roof, solar panels, green power charging stations, recycled rubber flooring, and bioswales that remove silt and pollution from surface runoff water.

Building Information Modeling was an important tool during construction of this building. The PCL team used it to resolve conflicts between the underground mechanical and electrical ducts and the fiberglass-pipe vapor dissipation system. Corrections proved effective, and PCL was able to complete the project one month ahead of schedule.

Innovative lighting solutions played a big part in reducing the facility's carbon footprint. Perimeter day lighting was configured to help light the building naturally, and motion sensors were placed throughout the center to minimize energy use. Locally sourced paving and asphalt were used to mitigate the environmental effects of the facility.
