InterVac Lab University of Saskatchewan

Project Overview

The International Vaccine Centre (InterVac) is one of the largest vaccine research laboratories in North America, and was the first of its kind for the PCL family of companies. This biocontainment facility, in conjunction with the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), provides space for the research of current and emerging infectious diseases. This facility and its operations work, in tandem with existing University of Saskatchewan research programs, expands basic research and product development capabilities in the area of high-consequence pathogens. As such, the project augments the University's position as an international research leader in infectious disease and vaccine development.

The grand opening on September 16th, 2012, was attended by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Saskatoon's Mayor Donald Atchison, and many other special guests.
