PCL was selected by Jacksonville Electric Authority to build this simple cycle CT8 project at Kennedy Generating Station. The fasttrack project called for the construction of a single GE Frame 7FA combustion turbine-generator addition rated at 188 megawatts.
To ensure that engineering deliverables supported the construction schedule, PCL used an incentivized contract with the engineering partner. This method ensures project focus for all parties to obtain best effort and ensure success. The PCL team executed the contract and project seamlessly, such that the engineering partner realized additional revenue by meeting or bettering established deliverable dates.
When delivery delays and last-minute factory cleaning threatened the schedule, the PCL team adapted quickly enough to maintain the original delivery date. At project completion, the client was pleased enough to call this one of the best-executed projects ever built for them. After 119,379 labor hours, the team was lost-time-incident-free.
