Kinsmen Park is a vital and vibrant environment for the citizens of Saskatoon, and the landmark is currently under construction to revitalize this important place of play. The rejuvenation focuses on providing a place for children in the city, integrating the character of the park with Spadina Crescent, rehabilitating the riverbank, integrating the Mendel building with the park, and providing a winter activity hub in the city.
Phase 1 of the project includes a new parking lot and a multizone children’s park. The park amenities feature a ride plaza, play structure area, sand and water features, and an enhanced train complete with a new station. In the rides plaza, the existing carousel will be refurbished and a 60-foot ferris wheel will be added. The most anticipated feature of the new park will be the new train and track, which is modeled after a CP Rail engine with replica Canpotex transport cars for passengers.
With fond memories of shouting with joy as the train passed through the tunnel, playing in the water park as children, and bringing their own children to Kinsmen Park, PCL employees are proud to be part of this historical rejuvenation.
