This project called for a renovation to the 30-year-old public broadcasting facility at San Diego State University. The first floor includes 1,075 reconfigured square feet that serve as conference and work space, and includes a media wall of computer and television screens. The second floor is approximately 24,000 square feet of state-of-the-art space that promotes creative collaboration between the synchronized platforms of web, TV, and radio. PCL’s scope included many unique features such as custom glass walls; enhanced wall finishes of steel, honeycomb, and porous expanded polypropylene panels; and scrim walls that separate space and offer projection opportunities.
Over the year-long design process, PCL's Special Projects division managed the client’s expectations by reviewing the constructability of the design and providing accurate budgets for each phase of the conceptual drawings.
