Lafarge Gypsum Wallboard Manufacturing Plant

Project Overview

The Lafarge Gypsum Wallboard Facility is one of the largest wallboard manufacturing facilities in the United States. This 85-acre site is where synthetic gypsum is produced for wallboard production, and is approximately 610,000 square feet under roof. Built in just less than one calendar year, with 6% self-performance, this design-build project houses some of the most sophisticated wallboard-producing equipment in the world. In full operation, this plant is capable of producing over 500 linear feet of ½-inch wallboard a minute, or 900 million square feet of wallboard per year. This plant is extremely environmentally friendly, using a by-product from Seminole Power (Flue-Gas Derivative) that eliminates the need to dispose of this material. In addition, the material captured by the dust collection system, as well as out-of-tolerance wallboard, is recycled.
