Project Overview

The Lafarge Second Board Line addition consists of a 523,000-square-foot addition to the existing plant. Installation of a new Alstom single cage mill; two single impulsion mills; a new stucco handling systems; a dry additive systems; 1,790 linear feet of board line conveying systems; and 14-deck dryer were all part of the project scope. PCL also installed 3,545 track feet of train rail; 324,046 square feet of asphalted truck parking areas; and 1,200 tons of structural steel for the mill.

Lafarge Silver Grove is the world's largest wallboard manufacturing facility. This fasttrack project was constructed in 18 months while the open facility maintained a daily traffic average of 120 trucks, and the project surpassed 500,000 work hours without a lost-time accident.
