Inspired by a popular Stunt Show Spectacular in Paris, this high-octane stunt show features specially designed cars, motorcycles, jet-skis, and special effects, with audience members pulled into the fun. Insiders reveal show secrets, detailing how stunts are created, designed, and filmed for the movies. Filmed images are revealed on an oversized screen, illustrating how the use of different camera angles can add drama to filmed scenes. This project is viewed by more than eight million guests per year.
Constructed on a fasttrack schedule, this design-build project included extensive demolition, area development of nine acres (including canal relocation) to accommodate a new 5,000-seat grandstand, a two-acre stage with a Mediterranean village facade, restroom facilities, queue space, and an active garage to service the stunt show. The scope of work also included extensive MEP enhancements to facilitate numerous special effects.
By using the design-build process, the team shortened the schedule and kept costs down. The process also allowed for collaboration between the architect and PCL, resulting in new ideas that saved time and money, and improved the quality and life extension of both products and project.
